Precautions for Correct Use
The main function of the firewall is to prevent unwanted access from external sources (e.g., the
Internet).
The changes that are made with the following procedures are to allow the Sysmac Studio and
the NJ/NX-series Controller to connect. If your computer is on an inhouse network, make sure
that security will not be jeopardized before you change the settings.
• Windows XP

Open the Control Panel from the Windows Start Menu and then select Windows Firewall
icon.
The Windows Firewall Dialog Box is displayed.

Click on the Exceptions tab and select Sysmac Studio in the Programs and Services list.
• Windows Vista, Windows 7, or later version

Open the Control Panel from the Windows Start Menu and then select Windows Firewall
icon.
The Windows Firewall Dialog Box is displayed.

Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
The Customize Settings Dialog box is displayed.
