The bottom of these page sections updates further to include a read-only port reference
(i.e., "Ethernet Port: Traffic/Management" and "Ethernet Port: Traffic").
Based on the switch environment the CDD-880 elects the best path and uses that port as the
active port to pass data over the two subnets.
Path selection is based first on physical status, and then the BPDUs that are sent out by
switches. If there is a change in the physical port status or in the BPDUs that makes the standby
port preferable, the CDD-880 automatically reassigns both IP addresses to the standby port and
makes it the new active port. The CDD-880 then issues Gratuitous ARP for both subnets to
update the ARP/MAC Tables of local network elements.
