8. Turn the sheave drum 6 times in the
direction of the arrow shown, and then
remove the starter rope from the notch
e.
9. Pull the manual starter handle several
times to check that the sheave drum
turns smoothly and to check the starter
rope for slack. Repeat steps 4—8 if nec-
essary.

NOTE:
Align the mark on the stopper with guide, and
then turn the sheave drum.

Removing the power unit

NOTE:
It is recommended to loosen the flywheel
magnet nut before removing the power unit to
improve working efficiency.
1. Remove the carburetor assembly.
2. Remove the start-in-protection cable 1,

ly, then measure the starter rope length.
Adjust if the starter rope length is out of
specification.
Starter rope length f:
1,700–1,900 mm (66.9–74.8 in)
and then remove the manual starter.
