INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

The instrument cluster used on LH vehicles is an
electro - mechanical module which receives most of
its information via the Programable Communication
Interface (PCI) bus. The instrument cluster shown
above (Fig. 3) operates in the same fashion as other
LH instrument clusters, just uses kilometers instead
of miles per hour graduations for vehicle speed. For
any service information refer to Group 8E, Instru-
ment Panel Systems.
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
HEADLAMP LEVELING SWITCH
The headlamp leveling switch is integrated into
the headlamp switch on LH vehicles. If the headlamp
leveling switch fails the entire headlamp switch must
be replaced.
REMOVAL
(1) Open the hood and disconnect the remote neg-
ative battery cable.
(2) Remove the left instrument panel end cover.
Grasp the molded handle and pull outward to release
the three retaining clips.
(3) Remove the lower left instrument panel cover.
Remove the two cover retaining screws located on far
left side of I. P. Pull cover straight away from I. P. to
release retaining clips. Disconnect trunk release
switch and parking brake handle and remove lower
left instrument panel cover from the vehicle.

(4) Remove center instrument panel trim bezel by
gently prying out with trim stick ( special tool #
C-4755). Disconnect HVAC control head and remove
trim bezel.
(5) Remove upper screws from cluster bezel,
located just above gauges.
