booster. Position wire harness routing bracket onto
right master cylinder mounting stud.
(6) Install and tighten the 2 master cylinder to
vacuum booster mounting nuts (Fig. 45) to 29 N·m
(250 in. lbs.) torque.
(7) Reconnect brake fluid level sensor connector.
(8) Connect all vacuum hoses onto the vacuum
booster check valve.
(9) Check stop light switch operation.
(10) Install the wiper module reinforcement (Fig.
44) on the vehicle. Install the 8 bolts, attaching the
reinforcement (Fig. 44) to the strut towers. Install
the bolt (Fig. 44) attaching the wiper module to the
reinforcement.

covering the pivot nuts.
(15) Verify proper operation of the brake booster

BRAKE TUBES AND HOSES
Always use factory recommended brake hose to
ensure quality, correct length and superior fatigue
life. Care should be taken to make sure that the tube
and hose mating surfaces are clean and free from
nicks and burrs. Front and rear right and left
side hoses, are not interchangeable.
Connections should be correct and properly made.
Use new copper seal washers on all connections
using Banjo Bolts and tighten all fittings to their
specified torques.
The flexible front hydraulic brake hose should
always be installed on the vehicle by first attaching
the Banjo connector to the caliper assembly. Then
attach the remaining hose end bracket to the vehicle
frame to minimize hose twisting. Then hand start
the steel brake tube fitting into the hose end fitting.
Tighten all attachment screws and tube fittings to
specified torque. The frame bracket is keyed so that
it will only fit one way.
Vehicles equipped with rear disc brakes have brake
flex hoses attached to the brake caliper on each side
of vehicle. The brake flex hose should be first
attached to the Banjo bolt at the caliper, then
secured to the flex hose/bracket at the rear suspen-
sion crossmember. Next, attach the rear proportion-
ing valve to the flex hose. last, fasten the steel brake
tubing to the rear proportioning valve. Tighten all
attachment screws and brake line tube fittings to
their specified torque (See Specifications Section) at
the end of this group for the required fitting torques.
JUNCTION BLOCK
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect and isolate the negative battery
connection at the right front strut tower.
(2) Using a brake pedal holding tool such as shown
(Fig. 48), depress brake pedal past its first 1 inch of
travel and secure in this position. This will isolate
the master cylinder reservoir from the brake hydrau-
lic system, not allowing the brake fluid to drain out
of the reservoir.

the left inner fender shield in place. Move the for-
ward half of the inner fender shield back out of the
way.
(5) Clean any debris away from the fittings on top
of the junction block.
