Remove the server from the rack

WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives, power input modules, and the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
WARNING:
This server is very heavy. To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment:
Observe local occupational health and safety requirements and guidelines for manual handling.
Reduce the weight of the server by removing the drives and power input modules before installing or
removing the server from the server.
Obtain adequate assistance to lift and stabilize the server during installation or removal. Hewlett
Packard Enterprise recommends that a minimum of two people are required for installing or
removing the server from the rack. A third person might be required to help align the server if the
server is installed higher than chest level.
Use caution when installing or removing the server from the rack; it is unstable when not fastened to
the rails.
Procedure
1. Back up all server data.
2. Power down the server.
3. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
5. Remove all installed power input modules.
6. If a rear drive cage option is installed, remove all rear drives.
7. Remove all the drives installed in the front drive cages 1 and 2.
8. Remove the server from the rack:
a. Loosen the rack ear thumbscrews.
b. Pull the thumbscrews to extend the server out of the rack until the rack rail lock is engaged.
c. Press the server release latches, and then slide the server out of the rack.
