Changing the
Hydraulic-System Filters
and Fluid
Service Interval: After the first 75 hours—Change the
hydraulic-system filters and fluid.
Every 500 hours—After the initial
change—change the hydraulic-system
filters and fluid when using Toro
500 oil (change it more often under severe
conditions).
Every 250 hours—After the initial
change—change the hydraulic-system
filters and fluid when using Mobil 1 15W50 fluid
(change it more often under severe conditions).
Change the filters and oil at the same time. Do not
use the oil again. Purge any air in the system after you
install the new filters and add oil. Refer to
the Hydraulic System (page
Repeat the bleeding process until the oil remains
at the F
C
line in the reservoir after purging.

Failure to properly perform this procedure can
result in irreparable damage to the transaxle drive
system.
Removing Hydraulic-System
Filters
1.
Shut off the engine, wait for all moving parts to
stop, allow the engine to cool, remove the key,
and engage the parking brake.
2.
Locate the filter and guards on each
transaxle-drive system
3.
Remove the 3 screws securing the filter guard
and guard

Carefully clean the area around the filters.
Important:
hydraulic system, or contamination may
occur.
5.
Place a drain pan below the filter to catch the
oil that drains when the filter and vent plugs are
removed.
6.
Locate and remove the vent plug on each
transmission
7.
Unscrew the filter to remove it, and allow the oil
to drain from the drive system.
8.
Repeat this procedure for both filters.
