10.9.1 Braille Display Mode > Device Emulation.
While most new devices and screen reading software now recognizes
VarioUltra as a trusted and known device, some older technology and
older versions of screen reading software may not recognize VarioUltra.
If you're using technology or software that is affected in this manner, you
may need to change the Device Emulation from VarioUltra, to another
BAUM display such as Pronto or VarioConnect. This emulation mode
lets you disguise VarioUltra a braille display that your older technology
or software recognizes.
1. The default setting is 'VarioUltra 1/3 <Device Emulation>. This
setting works for most devices.
2. Use NaviStick to move to the right, and you will find:
a. VarioConnect 2/3 <Device Emulation>
b. Pronto 3/3 <Device Emulation>
3. For iOS devices running iOS 7 through iOS 8.2, select the Pronto
emulation.
1. For Android devices, select the VarioConnect emulation.
2. ** New ** with v1.4: if Braille Back and BRLTTY for Android
version 5.2 or higher is installed, you can use the default
VarioUltra emulation.
10.9.2 Braille Display Mode > Enable Bluetooth
** New ** with v1.4: check the box for Enable Bluetooth Automatically,
and each time you switch on VarioUltra, Bluetooth will be switched on
automatically.
With VarioUltra v1.33 and older software versions, switching off the
device results in Bluetooth being switched off. Bluetooth remains off until
you switch it on again, which can be achieved in Braille Display mode by
simply selecting a Bluetooth channel (S2+B4, for example), and in
Braille Notetaker mode by checking the box in Settings > Bluetooth.
10.9.3 Braille Display Mode > Vibrate on Device Connected.
When a paired and trusted device is in range of VarioUltra, both devices
should connect automatically. When this happens, the default setting is
for VarioUltra vibrate when the connection is made. VarioUltra vibrates
one, two, three, or four times, to indicate which of the four Bluetooth
channels has a connection.
Automatically.
