Removing the cylinder head

1. Remove the spark plugs.
2. Remove the thermostat cover bolts in the
sequence as shown, and then remove
the thermostat.
3. Remove the cylinder head cover bolts in
the sequence shown.

5. Remove the cylinder head bolts in the
sequence shown.

Do not scratch or damage the mating sur-
faces of the cylinder head and cylinder block.
NOTE:
Insert a flat-head screw driver between the
pry tabs to pry off the cylinder heads.

Checking the cylinder head

1. Eliminate carbon deposits from the com-
bustion chambers and check for deterio-
ration.
