Cabling the MLT Ports for TDR, Tone, and Short Tests - All HN4000e Stack

4‐15 shows a stack with all HN4000e switches. In this configuration, you do not need to
cable the MLT ports to run TDR, tone, and short tests if you are using the TDR, tone, and short
test commands' defaults of automatically sourcing the test from the specified PME's switch.
For example, the following command runs a tone test on PME number 14 of HN4000e switch 1:
config tone set 2bpme 1/14
When you execute this command, the PME's host switch (switch 1) automatically generates the
tone.

There may be situations where you want to use a switch other than the one on which the PME
under test is hosted. In this case, you must cable the switches' MLT ports as shown in Figure 4‐
14 on page
3 is generating the TDR signal for PME number 14 on switch 1:
config tone set 2bpme 1/14 source 3
