Step 7.
Rotate the retention bracket to the close position.
Step 8.
Connect any required cables to the adapter.
Attention:
• When you route cables, do not block any connectors or the ventilated space around any of
the fans.
• Make sure that cables are not routed on top of components that are under the riser-card
assembly.
• Make sure that cables are not pinched by the server components.
Step 9.
Perform any configuration tasks that are required for the adapter.
Step 10. Reinstall the top cover (see "Replacing the top cover" on page 151).
Step 11. Slide the server into the rack.
Step 12. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.
Step 13. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.
Replacing an adapter in the rear two hard-disk-drive kit
Use this information to replace an adapter in the rear two hard-disk-drive kit.
To install an adapter, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on
page 297.
Step 2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
Step 3.
Remove the server top cover (see "Removing the top cover" on page 149).
Step 4.
Remove the rear two hard-disk-drive kit (see "Removing the rear two hard-disk-drive kit" on
page 207).
