5 Polygon Motor Malfunction RAP

Switch off the electricity to the machine. Disconnect the power cord from the customer supply
while performing tasks that do not need electricity. Electricity can cause death or injury. Moving
parts can cause injury.
Description
• All drives are shut down and a hardware error message (Printer Error Mirror) is displayed on
the control panel.
• The LOCK signal is not detected within a predetermined period of time that begins 1 sec.
after the Polygon Motor has been energized.
• No new LOCK signal is detected for a 1-sec. period that begins 1.5 sec. after the first LOCK
signal was detected.
• The LOCK signal is not detected for a continuous 0.5-sec period in a state in which the Poly-
gon Motor runs.
• The LOCK signal remains ON for a continuous 5-sec period or more when the Polygon Motor
remains de-energized.
Checks and Causes
1. Check cables for connection.
2. Check ROS (PL 11, Wiring Diagram 2).

Solutions
1. Tighten loose connections and correct
other connections as necessary.
2. Install a new ROS (PL 11).
3. Install a new Main PBA (PL 5).
4. If the Polygon Motor Malfunction still
occurs, Install a new CPU (PL 5).
