Remove
the
starter
dnve and
driven sprockets, chain
and
side
spacer (page
10-3).
Disconnect
the
starter
cable from
the
starter
motor.
Remove
the four mounting
bolts
and the
starter motor.
DISASSEMBLY
Record the
location
and
number
of
shims-
Remove
the following:

Starter
motor
case
bolts
—
Front
cover assembly
—
Seal
ring
—
Separator
—
Shims
—
Rear cover assembly
—
Seal
ring
—
Shims
—
Armature
