FUEL
SYSTEM
HIGH ALTITUDE
ADJUSTMENT
When
the vehicle
Is
to
be operated continuously
above
2,000
m
(6,500
feet),
the carburetor
must
be readjusted as
follows to
Improve
driveability
and
decrease exhaust emis-
sions.
Warm
up
the
engine
to
operating temperature.
Stop
and
go
riding for
10
minutes
is
sufficient.
Turn
the
pilot
screw
clockwise
1/2
turn.
Adjust
the
idle
speed
to
1,400
±
100
rpm
with the
throttle
stop screw.

NOTE
This
adjustment
must be
made
at
high
altitude to
ensure
proper high
altitude
operation.
Attach
a
Vehicle
Emission
Control Information
Update
Label
on
the
left
side
of
the
air
cleaner
housing
as
shown
In
the
label
position
illustration.
NOTE
Do
not
attach the
label
to
any
part that
can be
oasily
removed
from
the
vehicle.
CAUTION
Sustained operation
at
an
altitude
lower than 5.000
feet
<1*00 mi
with the
carburetor adjusted for high
altitude lettings
nun
cause
engine
to
idle
roughly
and
stall
in
traffic.
It
may
also cause
engine
damage
due
to
overheating
When
the vehicle
is
to
be operated continuously
below
5,000
feet
(1,500
m).
turn the
pilot
screw
to
the
Low
Altitude
Setting specified
below.
LOW
ALTITUDE
SETTING:
1/2 turn
out
Adjust the
idle
speed
1,400
t 100
rpm
with the
throttle
stop
screw.
Be
sure
to
make
these
adjustments
at
low
altitude.
Remove
the Vehicle
Emission
Control Information
Update
Label
that
is
attached
on
the
left
side of the
air
cleaner
hous-
ing.
