1.15.3

Installation

Install a PCI card to a PCI slot in the following procedure.
1. See steps 1 to 6 in Chapter 2 (1.3 Overview of Installation and Removal) for preparations.
2. Confirm the slot to install the PCI card according to the table in Chapter 2 (1.15.2 Supported PCI cards
and available slots).
3. Remove one screw from the blank cover
on the slot in which you are going to mount
the PCI card, then remove the blank cover.
4. Position the terminal part of the PCI card to
the PCI slot and insert it.
Important
When installing a PCI card, make sure the connector of the card fits the
connector of the slot.
Note
To install an FBU, see Chapter 2 (1.12 Flash Backup Unit for RAID Controller).
Note
Keep the removed blank cover for future use.
Important
Do not touch the connector of PCI slot or the terminal part of PCI cards and
the signal pins of electric parts installed on the board. Installing boards with
dirt or oil can cause malfunction.
Note
• Depending on type of PCI cards, the terminal part of the PCI card may be too
large to fit in the connector.
• If you have trouble installing the board, remove the board once and try again. If
you apply excessive pressure on the board, a PCI card or PCI connector might
break.
