1.4 SEVEN RECEIVER OVERVIEW

The Receiver looks similar to a cell phone and communicates the glucose information
measured by the Sensor to you. Keep your Receiver within 5 feet (1.5 m) of your Sensor
Pod (with Transmitter) at all times for best communication. The best places to keep your
Receiver are on your beltline in the carrying case provided or in your pocket. During
nighttime use you may want to place the Receiver under your pillow.
The Receiver is rechargeable. The re-chargeable battery will last for about 5 days before
needing to be charged. The Receiver will notify you when the battery charge is low. The
Receiver takes 3 hours to fully charge if the battery is completely drained. To charge the
Receiver, plug the charger cable provided into a standard wall outlet.
The Receiver has 4 buttons to guide you through its screens. The screens display glucose
readings and trend graphs ("Trend Screens") and allow you to change your Receiver
settings ("Settings Screens"). The Receiver is programmed with a specific Transmitter
Serial Number (SN#) so your Receiver and Transmitter can "talk" (communicate) only
with each other. Each time you insert a new Sensor, you will need to notify the Receiver
(see Section 2.4).
Each Sensor must be "calibrated" before glucose readings are displayed on your Receiver.
To calibrate, you can manually enter BG readings (see Section 3.3) from any FDA cleared
meter. You should always use the same glucose meter to calibrate your Seven System
that you routinely use to measure your blood glucose. Do not switch your BG meter in
the middle of a Sensor session Or you can directly connect your Receiver to the LifeScan
OneTouch Ultra meter using the connection cable (Auto Upload, see Section 3.2). By
connecting the 2 devices, you will transfer fingerstick blood glucose readings taken on
your OneTouch Ultra Meter to your Receiver. Do not use alternative site testing for BG
calibration readings.
