You can dynamically change the SDD path-selection policy algorithm by using the datapath
set device policy SDD command.
You can see the SDD path-selection policy algorithm that is active on the device when you
use the datapath query device command. Example 12-22 on page 563 shows that the active
policy is optimized, which means that the SDD path-selection policy algorithm that is active is
Optimized Sequential
Example 12-23 shows the volume information from the IBM Flex System V7000 Storage
Node CLI.

12.6.3 Creating and preparing the SDD volumes for use

Follow these steps to create and prepare the volumes:
1. Create a partition on the vpath device, as shown in Example 12-24.
Example 12-24 fdisk example
[root@Palau ~]# fdisk /dev/vpatha
Device contains neither a valid DOS partition table, nor Sun, SGI or OSF
disklabel
Building a new DOS disklabel. Changes will remain in memory only,
until you decide to write them. After that, of course, the previous
content won't be recoverable.
Warning: invalid flag 0x0000 of partition table 4 will be corrected by w(rite)
