  • Page 32 A reliable way to check that an IP address is not already in use is to logon to a machine that is in the same subnet as the Storwize V7000 Unified system will use for management communications. Then ping the new IP addresses. For example, ping each of the IP addresses that you intend to use in the InitTool.exe.

The authentication system may also be used to provide User ID mapping. Several authentication methods are supported.

When sliding the bracket away from the cable plug-in, pull the lever on the bracket that controls the cable tie slightly towards the center of the canister.

    Before you begin, make sure you have worked through Chapter 1, “Before you begin the installation,” on page 1 and that your system is properly cabled for the Storwize V7000 Unified system and any expansion enclosures. Refer to the cabling sections listed under Chapter 2, “Performing the hardware installation,” on page 29.
