Order Item/components and probable
cause
1 Installed condition of wheel sensor.
2 Installed condition of wheel bearings,
axle, sensor housing, and sensor ro-
tor.
3 Foreign material inside sensor hous-
ing.
4 Defective sensor rotor.
5 Hydraulic unit assembly internal mal-
function.
NOTE:
Vehicle possibly ridden on uneven roads.
ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM)
Symptom Incorrect signal from the front wheel sensor is
detected.
Check or maintenance job
Check for looseness. Repair or
replace the wheel sensor if nec-
essary.
Check the components for loose-
ness, distortion, and bends.
Refer to "CHECKING THE
FRONT WHEEL" on page 4-19.
Check the interior of the sensor
housing and the surface of the
sensor rotor for foreign material,
such as metal particles. Clean
the sensor housing and sensor
rotor if necessary.
Refer to "MAINTENANCE OF
THE FRONT WHEEL SENSOR
AND SENSOR ROTOR" on page
4-20.
Check the surface of the sensor
rotor for damage. If there is visi-
ble damage, replace the sensor
rotor.
Refer to "MAINTENANCE OF

4-20.
Replace the hydraulic unit as-
sembly.

Reinstatement
confirmation
method
• Turn the main
switch to "ON"
and check
that the ABS
warning light
comes on for
2 seconds,
then goes off.
• Perform a tri-
al run at a
constant
speed of 30
km/h and
check that the
ABS warning
light does not
come on.
