13.2

B299 POPEX Module

The B299 POPEX Module is an SDI2 compatible device. The module communicates to the
control panel over the SDI2 bus, and provides support for up to 100 POPIT (Point Of
Protection Input Transponder) devices. This occurs over a single expansion loop using two
pairs of terminals.
B9512G control panels support up to 6 modules. B8512G support up to 1 module.
The B299 POPEX Module connects to the SDI2 bus on the control panel using terminals 27
through 30 (or 23 through 26 if configured for SDI2), or using the SDI2 interconnect wiring
connector. You can connect more than one module to the control panel by wiring them in
parallel. This section includes basic installation instructions. For detailed installation
instructions, refer to the POPEX Module (B299) Installation and Operation Guide.
13.2.1

SDI2 address settings

Notice!
The module reads the address switch setting only during module power up. If you change the
setting after you apply power to the module, you must cycle the power to the module in order
for the new setting to take effect.
If multiple B299 modules reside on the same system, each B299 module must have a unique
address.
The number of points allowed by the control panel determines the valid addresses.
For valid point numbers, refer to B299 address settings, page 168.
13.2.2

Supervision

The control panel automatically supervises any B299 POPEX Module on the SDI2 bus when an
associated point has its source programmed for POPEX.
