Section 4 - Appendix B - Application Considerations
Prerequisites
Before you proceed, the following prerequisites must
be met. Most of the time steps 2 through 5 are already
configured since the HP-UX system is on a TCP/IP
network. Do not perform steps 2 through 5 unless
the installation procedure fails!
1. The name OKIPRINTER and the IP address
assigned to the OkiLAN 6100e+ are in the
"/etc/hosts" file on the HP-UX system.
2. Make sure the rlp process is not running by typing at
the UNIX prompt:
If rlp is not running, you will not see any output after
executing this command.
If rlp is running (that is, if you see output after
executing this command), kill the process with the
command:
3. Make sure the following entry is in the
"/etc/inetd.conf" file:
If the rlp daemon is not running when a print request
is made, this entry in "/etc/inetd.conf" will tell inetd
to auto-start the rlp daemon and service the pending
print request. This is helpful if the daemon died or
was terminated for some reason. For more
information on inetd or "/etc/inetd.conf", type man
inetd or man inetd.conf.
4. Make sure the following entry is in the
"/etc/services" file:
5. Start inetd by typing the following at the UNIX
prompt:
IV - 66
OKI OkiLAN 6100e+ User's Guide
ps -e | grep rlp
kill -15 process_number.
printer stream tcp nowait root "/usr/lib/
