For example:
When the Use default gateway on remote network box is checked, Windows
routes all IP packets through the default gateway, which in this case is the
Passport 4400 PPP connection. This allows you to reach any Passport 4400 in the
IP network.

Defining a Route

If you are using PPP to connect your workstation to your local Passport 4400, and
you did not select the Use default gateway on remote network option in the your
Windows Dial-Up Networking connection, you may need to define a route for
accessing remote Passport 4400s.
Procedure

Ping any remote node in your Passport network to determine whether or not
you need to add a specific route to access the Passport network.

If the Ping operation is successful, you do not need to define a route.
However, if the Ping operation fails, continue with step 3.

Start a DOS session, and at the DOS prompt, enter this command:
ROUTE ADD <IP Network> MASK <Net Mask> <Local IP Address>
