I ATTENTION: The max. bearing clearance of the crankshaft main- and backing bearings
(MS and PTO side) must not exceed 0,12 mm (0,005 in.).
For an engine overhaul the crankshaft, has to be taken to pieces. Engine overhaul at ROTAX
only! For crankshaft repair or exchange, pull offdrive gear and refit on new crankshaft.
At a renewal of the crankshaft, new bearings have to be fitted too. Delivery of crankshaft with
allocated dimension sheet (see chapter 10 - dimension sheet). Co-ordination of data sheet to
crankshaft by consecutive number, imprinted on crankshaft centre.
I ATTENTIbNT Xrep crankshaft absolutely clean!
6.2) Crankcase and journal bearings
Clean crankcase in gasoline. Visual check of all bearing seats and sealing faces. Check
crankcase for cracks and carry out dimensional check. Inspect guides O for hydraulic tappets.
Check all tapped holes and oil ducts for free passage and clean by compressed air. Check oil
tube O for tight fit. This tube serves for better oil return to the oil discharge opening O in
crankcase.
I ATTENTION: Make absolutely sure not to scratch the sealing face when cleaning. Remove
remains of sealant by using solvent (e.g. acetone).
A WARNING: Caution when using solvents!
