Expansions and conversions

Main memory expansion
Two slots for riser cards with 8 FBD slots each are available. Each memory
bank can be populated with two 512 Mbyte, 1 Gbyte, 2 Gbyte or 4 Gbyte FBD
PC2-4200F or FDB PC2-5300F fully buffered DIMM memory modules.
The memory modules must be equipped in pairs. A memory bank must always
be equipped fully with the same type of memory modules.
There are three modes of operation for the main memory: non-mirrored mode,
mirrored mode (recommended) and sparing mode. Depending on the mode of
operation there are different population requirements.
Second processor
The system board can be upgraded with a second processor. Only processors
of the same type may be used on the system board. That means the number of
the internal processor cores as well as the primary clock and the FSB frequency
have to be the same. For dual operation, use a suitable multiprocessor
operating system.
Additional accessible drives
Three 5.25-inch bays are available for accessible drives. There can be installed
DVD/DVD-RX drives, tape drives, a multibay (slimline DVD and FDD,
ServerView Local Service Panel or Display) or a hard disks extension box.
Hard disks extension box
In the base units two 5.25-inch bays for accessible drives can be used to install
a hard disks extension box.
Two variants of the hard disks extension box are available:
– Variant 1:
one bay for a ServerView Local Service Panel (LSP) or ServerView Local
Service Display (LSD), one bay for a slimline DVD drive and two bays for 3.5-
inch hard disk drives
– Variant 2 (only possible if the system is equipped with 2.5-inch hard disk
drives):
eight bays for 2.5-inch hard disk drives
