Keyboard Lock and Standby Mode

Do you ever need to put your BlackBerry into your pocket, purse, or bag but want to
make sure no keys are accidentally pressed? If so, you can use either the Keyboard
Lock key or the Mute key to lock the keyboard.
Enable or Disable Standby Mode:
1. Press and hold the Mute Key on the top right edge of your BlackBerry
until you see the Entering standby mode message. (Figure 8-5)
2. To exit standby mode, just tap the Mute key again.
Lock the Keyboard:
You can do this in several ways:
1. Tap the Keyboard Lock key on the top edge of your Bold.
(Figure 8-5)
2. Press and hold the letter A on your keyboard.
3. Tap the letter K key on your keyboard if you've turned on Home
screen hotkeys as shown in Part 4 of this book.
Unlock the Keyboard:
If you have password security enabled (see page 516), simply type your
password to unlock the keyboard.
If you don't have password security enabled, press the asterisk key (*), then the
Green Phone key to unlock.
Keyboard Lock
Tap the Lock key
to lock your
BlackBerry. Tap
again to unlock.

Standby Mode
Press & hold the
Mute key to put
in Standby Mode.
Tap again to exit
Standby Mode.
