Routing Engine Interface Ports

Each Routing Engine has a set of ports for connecting to one or more external devices
on which system administrators can issue JUNOS command-line interface (CLI)
commands to manage the router (see

There is read/write activity on the PC card.

Routing Engine is functioning as master.

Routing Engine is running normally.
— Connects the Routing Engine to a laptop, modem, or other

auxiliary device through an RS-232 (EIA-232) serial cable.
—Connects the Routing Engine through an Ethernet connection to a

for out-of-band management. The port uses an autosensing RJ-45 connector to
