Detack
This step helps the paper peel off the drum surface Figure 8.

The Detack saw applies a negative charge to the back side of the paper to neutralize the
positive charge that was applied by the BTR. By this neutralization of charge, the attrac-
tive force which causes the paper to stick to the drum surface disappears, and the paper
peels off the drum surface because of its mechanical stiffness.
The negative charge is low enough to avoid disturbing the transferred toner image on the
paper.
6.
Fuse
This step permanently fixes the toner image to the paper.
