Basic software procedures
Ê Press the function key [F11] and select the bootable USB stick with the
arrow keys Ê and Ë.
Ê Change the directory with cd DOS and start the Flash BIOS Update with the
command DosFlash. Then follow the instructions on the screen.
Ê After the Flash BIOS Update the system is restarted automatically. The
system will be booted with the new BIOS revision.
Ê Check the settings in the BIOS setup utility. If necessary, reconfigure the
settings again.
BIOS recovery procedure

For the Japanese market, follow the instructions provided separately.
Ê Prepare a USB stick with the following files:
– Update tool
– Startup.nsh (which will execute the update tool)
– BIOS image file for update (16 MB with header information)
Ê Ensure that the server has been shut down and disconnected from the
mains as described in section
Ê Remove the server node from the Dual Node Cluster Server as described in
section "Removing the server node from the Dual Node Cluster Server" on
page 42.
Ê Enter BIOS recovery mode using the onboard jumpers.

Ê Install the server node in the Dual Node Cluster Server

Ê Connect the USB stick to the USB port.
Ê Connect the server to the mains as described in the Upgrade and
Maintenance Manual "PRIMERGY CX420 S1 Dual Node Cluster Server".
Ê Press the On / Off button to start up the server.
The system will detect the USB stick and the BIOS recovery process will be
performed.
