13—Operating the Hard Disk Recorder
This chapter discusses the mechanics of using the VS-2000's hard disk recorder—
basically, it's all about recording and playing back a project. We'll describe the
recorder's tools for navigating a project and for playing it back in a variety of ways.
If you're not clear on what the hard disk recorder is and what it does, see "The Hard
Disk Recorder" on Page 56. To learn the fundamentals of how it records and plays back
audio—and how its built-in hard disk works—see Chapter 6, starting on Page 93.
You can reverse any recording action using the VS-2000's Undo and Redo features,
described on Page 72.

The Transport Buttons

The Main Transport Buttons

The most basic tools you have for recording and playing a project—and running the
hard disk recorder—are the transport buttons.
Press:
PLAY
STOP
REC
ZERO
REW
FF
The buttons perform other tasks when SHIFT is held down. See "SHIFT Operations"
on Page 399.

Special Transport Buttons

In addition to the main transport buttons, you can jump to the:

To:
begin playback from the now line's current position in the project.
halt playback at the now line's current position.
begin recording any armed tracks, as described on Page 177.
return to Time 00h00m00s00f00, the very beginning of the project.
move back in time through the project
move forward in time through the project
the beginning, or "top," of the project's audio—by holding down SHIFT
and pressing REW.
the end of the project's recorded audio—by holding down SHIFT and
pressing FF.
