The high voltage power supply (see figure 1-5) is a solid-state, fully regu-
lated, dc -to-ac -to -dc converter.
The high voltage outputs consist of: +500 vdc,
-1200 vdc, and +12 kvdc.
These voltages are used for the following functions:

The CRT indicator (see figure 1-1) provides a 6-1/2 by 8-1/2 inch viewing
surface for displaying a message of up to 1040 characters.
The CRT screen is
coated internally with a P31 (green) phosphor which emits light when scanned by
the electron beam.
When refreshed at a 63-Hz refresh rate, the CRT provides
a flicker-free character presentation.
A close-mesh screen stretched across
the face of the screen cancels the effects of rf radiation and permits viewing in a
lighted room without noticeable reflections.
