1. Selecting the Parallel Interface
Communication Mode
On most computers, set the communication
mode to "A-B". This setting, however, must be
changed to the "A-B-A" or "B-A" mode when the
printer's data reception indicator does not light even
if data is being transferred.
1) Turn the power switch OFF.
2) Turn the power ON while holding down the
ONLINE and MENU keys.
3)
Make sure that "Busy-Ack" is displayed on the
message display before releasing your fingers
from the keys.
* The printer enters the communication mode
selection menu.

4)
Press the left or right key to select the commu-
nication mode.
5)
Press one of the ONLINE, MENU, up or down
arrow key to confirm the setting.
* The image controller PCB is initialized, and
the printer exits the communication mode
selection menu.

the Busy and nAck signals in each mode.

2. Upgrading the Image Controller
Version
Follow the procedure below to download the
upgrade version of the image controller firmware.
1) Tum the printer and computer power switches
OFF.
2) Connect the printer to the computer via the
interface cable.
3) Turn the printer's power switch ON while hold-
ing down the printer's left and right arrow keys.
4)
Make sure that "Down Load Mode" is displayed
on the message display before releasing your
fingers from the keys.
* The printer enters the download mode.

5) Turn the computer's power switch ON.
6)
Insert the download disk into the disk drive.
7) Select the drive containing the disk.
