mm CHAPTER 2 OPERATION
E. Transportation/Media Dis-
charge
1. Transportation Operation
Media feed is carried out alternately with car-
riage operation during printing.
During carriage operation, operation of the
feed roller is stopped. When printing of the first band
has ended, the feed roller feed the media by one
band for the next print.
If there are areas in the image being printed that
do not contain image data to be printed, the carriage
does not operate and the media is fed to the band
containing the next printing data.
Reference
To maintain a uniform distance between the
head and media during printing, rotation of the
media discharge roller is accelerated by the feed
roller to ensure that the surface of the media on the
platen is flat.
2. Media Discharge
The printer discharges the media when it has
finished printing the final band.
When discharging cut sheet media, the trailing
edge of the media is fed to a position 19 mm behind
the center of the media discharge roller and
discharged.
When media is cut when discharging roll me-
dia, the media is cut before it is fed to the printing
standby position.
