Crankcase capacity: approximately 3.4 L (3.6 US
qt) with the filter.
Engine oil specification:

Required: CH-4, CI-4 or higher.
Engine oil viscosity
– Preferred oil: SAE 15W-40 (above 0°F)
– Alternate oil: SAE 10W-30 or 5W-30 (all
temperatures)
Note:
Toro Premium Engine Oil is available from your
authorized Toro distributor in either 15W-40 or 10W-30
viscosity. See the parts catalog for part numbers.
Checking the Engine-Oil Level
Service Interval: Before each use or daily—Check
the engine-oil level. Check the
engine-oil level before the engine is
first started and daily thereafter.
Note:
The best time to check the engine oil is when
the engine is cool before it has been started for the
day. If you have already run the engine, allow the oil
to drain back down to the sump for at least 10 minutes
before checking. If the oil level is at or below the low
mark on the dipstick, add oil to bring the oil level to the
high mark. Do not overfill. If the oil level is between
the high and low marks, you do not need to add oil.
Check the engine-oil level as shown in
Figure
62.
