Replacing the Fuel-Filter
Element
Toward the Front, Right Side
Service Interval: Every 500 hours—Replace the
fuel-filter element toward the front,
right side.
1.
Clean the area around the fuel-filter head
(Figure
72).

Remove the filter and clean the
filter-head-mounting surface
3.
Lubricate the filter gasket with clean fuel.
4.
Assemble the filter element onto the filter head.
5.
Assemble the filter bowl and bowl nut onto the
filter head and tighten the nut by hand
6.
Prime the fuel system; refer to
System (page
53).
7.
Check the fuel/water separator for leaks.
Note:
Repair all fuel leaks before operating the
machine.

Priming the Fuel

Cleaning the Fuel Tank

Service Interval: Every 400 hours/Yearly (whichever
comes first)—Empty and clean the
fuel tank.
If you store the machine for an extended period,
use a siphon pump to empty the fuel tank

If the fuel system becomes contaminated, use a
siphon pump to empty the fuel tank
clean the tank, and use clean diesel fuel to flush
out the tank.
Inspecting the Fuel Lines
and Connections
Service Interval: Every 400 hours/Yearly (whichever
comes first)
Inspect the fuel lines for deterioration, damage, or
loose connections.
