Fault Detection
5.1.1
Ground-Fault Detection
•
Single Fault
Single fault is detected when the fault current is greater than or equal to the set current threshold limit
and the fault current persists for the response time set in the device. The fault LED blinks in the pattern of
1 blink/s to indicate single-fault condition and BO contact changes its state.

Continuous Fault
If a continuous fault is present, the fault LED blinks in the pattern of 2 blinks/s as long as the fault current
persists. If there is no fault condition, the fault LED reverts to single blink.
Fault Indication

The ground-fault indication in SICAM EFI is provided through the following:
Local fault indication
•
LED Indication (Red color)
‒ Single fault: 1 blink/s
‒ Continuous fault: 2 blinks/s
•
Visibility distance: Up to 20 m during day time (under bright sunlight) and up to 200 m during night time.
Distance measured in line of sight vision under clear weather conditions.
•
Flag indication
‒ Red color: Fault has occurred
‒ Black color: Normal operation
•
Signal lamp output provides fault indication via Siemens signal lamp.
‒ Visibility distance: Up to 70 m during day time (under bright sunlight) and up to 300 m during night
time. Distance measured in line of sight vision under clear weather conditions.
Remote fault indication
The device has binary outputs to communicate the ground fault information to remote monitoring units via an
RTU.
