13. Verify the Step-up and Drive belt alignment and tracking:
Rapidly spin the crankarm while visually verifying that the step-up and input drive
belts are parallel to each other and maintain even spacing. If the belts are not aligned
or tracking correctly, make alignment adjustments as follows. The belt tension will
also need to be re-verified after adjustments are completed:
a. Loosen the left and right 11/16" step-up pulley shaft nuts.
b. Right Belt Alignment Issue: If the step-up pulley belt is out of alignment to the
right, turn the left step-up belt tension adjustment nut 1/4 turn clockwise (mov-
ing the step-up shaft left side rearward) and re-verify the belt alignment. If turn-
ing the left adjustment nut 1/4 turn clockwise was not sufficient to correct the
alignment, turn the right step-up belt tension adjustment nut 1/4 turn coun-
terclockwise (moving the step-up shaft right side forward). Repeat process
until properly aligned.
c. Left Belt Alignment Issue: If the step-up pulley belt is out of alignment to the
left, turn the right step-up belt tension adjustment nut 1/4 turn clockwise and
re-verify alignment. If turning the right step-up belt tension nut 1/4 turn was not
sufficient to correct the alignment, turn the left step-up belt tension adjustment
nut 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Repeat process until properly aligned.
14.
CAUTION: It is very important that the belts are properly aligned. Mis-
aligned belts will cause noises, slipping, and premature damage to the belts
and pulley hardware.
