Step-up Belt Tension Adjustment procedure
10. Adjust the step-up belt tension using the Gates Carbon Drive™ app (see
bon Drive Mobile™ App
plucked) as close as is possible to midway between the step-up belt pulleys. Adjust
the belt tension to 230 Hz +/-10 as follows:
a. Use the crankarm to rotate the pulleys several rotations to make sure the belt is
properly seated and aligned.
b. Pluck the belt and measure the sonic belt tension frequency as close as is pos-
sible to midway between the step-up belt pulleys. Only include three consistent
reasonable independent frequency measurements in the "FREQUENCY
AVERAGE" belt tension result. Discard any outlier tension frequencies (fre-
quencies that are clearly outside the range of the other measured frequencies)
from being included in the final "FREQUENCY AVERAGE" belt tension result.
c. Compare the measured belt tension frequency to the Step-up belt tension spe-
cification 230 Hz +/-10 and make adjustments as needed. It is IMPORTANT to
adjust the left and right tension nuts equally in ¼ turn increments until the belt
tension "FREQUENCY AVERAGE" frequency is within specification limits 230
Hz +/-10.
