If none of the integrated modems of the TIM 4 can be used, a TIM 4R without integrated
modem can be used. Suitable modems or other transmission devices can be connected to
the combined RS-232/RS-485 port of the TIM 4R.
Instead of the MDx SINAUT modem, other modems with an RS-232 or RS-485 interface can
also be used, for example wireless devices or the SINAUT GSM modem MD720-3.
S7-300 and S7-400 with common WAN attachment
Since a TIM 4 can communicate not only with one but several CPUs over MPI, regardless of
whether they are type S7-400 or S7-300 CPUs, a SINAUT station can also be configured as
shown in the figure below.
