4 Make sure that "Ready to scan." is displayed on the
scanner's message display.

If the Panel Operation Mode is turned ON, perform the
appropriate settings in the operation panel. Refer to
"G When the Panel Operation Mode is turned ON" on
page 11-5.

Set the document that you want to scan.
Scanning will begin automatically when the document is
inserted. If, for any reason, it does not start automatically,
press the Start key.
NOTES
• Refer to the Functions Edition (On-Line Manual) for more detailed
information on scanning from your computer.
• Refer to "Originals for copying" on page 3-1 for information on
setting documents.
• Even if you perform the appropriate scanning procedure in your
computer, there are cases when "Ready to scan." will not be
displayed, such as if a copying operation has just been completed
at the printer or during Interrupt copying. This is because the
settings entered into the printer have yet to be cleared. In this case,
"Ready to scan." will be displayed once the Auto Clear function
engages in the printer.
If you want the ability to start scanning right away in such cases,
turn the TWAIN/WebScan mode ON. Refer to "G Turning the
TWAIN/WebScan mode ON" at right.
7 If you selected multiple scanning in the scan settings made
in your computer, "Insert next original" will be displayed.
In this case, set the next document that you want to scan.
8 Press the Enter key to end the scanning procedure.
The message display will return to the initial mode.

G Turning the TWAIN/WebScan mode ON
In order to give priority in the scanner to scanning documents, use
the scanner's operation panel and turn the TWAIN/WebScan mode
ON.
1 Press the Copier/Printer/Scanner key until the Scanner
Mode Select menu appears.
2 Use the N and M cursor keys to move the arrow (e) to
"TWAIN/WEB".
3 Press the Enter key.
The TWAIN/WebScan mode will be turned ON and the
scanner's message display will enter the "waiting to scan"
state.
