Chapter 2: System functions

Regions

A region is a defined access control area having doors acting as boundaries.
Regions are programmed in "Panel > Regions" on page 96.
Regions are used by the following functions:
Areas set and unset
Anti-passback functions to keep track of users
User number count and restriction
High security function to allow users in the region under high security users
(HSU) supervision

Anti-passback

The system can deny access to a card or PIN belonging to a user when the user
is already assigned to the region.
Depending on the anti-passback settings (see the "Anti-passback options"
section on page 105), the system may:
Deny access and report an anti-passback violation.
Allow access and report an anti-passback violation.
Separate programming fields are provided for each door IN reader and OUT
readers. See the "In region" section on page 106 and the "Out region" section on
page 106.
When a valid card or PIN is entered at the door reader, the number of the region
that the user is entering into is recorded against the user code. The range is from
region 1 to region 254. Region 1 acts as outside. Region 255 is used for "Region
disabled".
Users in region 1 (outside) can be prevented from unlocking doors at IN readers
and/or OUT readers. See the "Deny region 1 users" section on page 102 (the
inhibit outside users option can be configured separately for IN readers and OUT
readers).
Caution:
If the system is in the extended mode, the anti-passback functionality
only works within one door controller, because users are not synchronized
between regions in different door controllers.

High security

High security regions (HSR) require a certain number of high security users
(HSU) present in them to allow any normal users inside. If a high security user
leaves the region causing too few HSU present in it, an alarm is raised, preceded
by prewarning time.
