FRONT WHEEL/SUSPENSION / STEERING
Install the dust seal and lower tapered rotler bearing
using a hydraulic press and steering stem driver.
STEERING STEM INSTALLATION
Coat the upper and lower taper bearings with grease.
Install the upper bearing in the steering head.
Slide the steering stem through the steering head
from the bottom.
STEERING STEM ADJUSTMENT
I nstall the bearing adj ustment nut and torque with
the steering stem socket.
TORQUE! 1- 2 N·m
(0. 1-0.2 kg-m, 0.7- 1.4 ft ·lb)
Turn the steering stem lock·to·lock five times to
seat the bearings. Repeat the bearing tightening and
steering stem turning sequence twice more.
NOTE
After each tightening and turning sequence,
you should be able to turn nut slightly before
reaching the specified torque.
