1. Basic Operation
Powering On and Off
• To turn on the ETERNUS DX by linking with the server, the server must wait until the ETERNUS DX is in
the READY state.
• If the Auto Power function is enabled via ETERNUS Web GUI or ETERNUS CLI, the ETERNUS DX is
automatically turned on when power is supplied to the ETERNUS DX.
• If the Power Resume function is enabled via ETERNUS Web GUI or ETERNUS CLI, the ETERNUS DX is
automatically turned on after the power is restored.
• If the REMOTE LED of the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5 is green, turn on the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600
S5 via a power synchronized unit.
• After power-off, wait for about one minute before turning power on again.
• If the ETERNUS DX turns off abnormally due to problems such as a power failure, it takes approximately
10 minutes (max.) longer for the ETERNUS DX60 S5/DX100 S5/DX200 S5 and the ETERNUS DX500 S5,
approximately 15 minutes (max.) longer for the ETERNUS DX600 S5, or approximately 20 minutes
(max.) longer for the ETERNUS DX900 S5 to reach the READY state the next time the ETERNUS DX is
turned on.
• If the ETERNUS DX is not connected to a power source for long periods, it takes up to four hours before
the built-in battery is fully charged. If the ETERNUS DX is used before the battery is fully charged, the
operational state of the cache is changed to the Write Through mode and performance of the ETERNUS
DX degrades.
