Nonredundant Configuration
One
in either PDU can provide power
PSM0
to all fan trays.
If the nonredundant PSM in this zone is
not powered on, the fan trays are not
powered on, and the packet transport
switch will not be powered on.
If the nonredundant PSM in this zone fails,
the fan trays are not powered on, which
will cause the packet transport switch to
be powered off.
One
in either PDU can provide power
PSM1
to the craft interface, both host subsystems,
both CCGs, and all nine SIBs.
If the nonredundant PSM in this zone is
not powered on, the craft interface, host
subsystems. CCGs, and SIBs are not
powered on.
If the nonredundant PSM in this zone fails,
the craft interface, host subsystems.
CCGs, and SIBs are powered off.
One to four FPCs: One
or
PSM2
either PDU can provide nonredundant power
for up to four FPCs.
and
in the same PDU is

PSM3
nonredundant.
Five to eight FPCs: Two PSM in either PDU
can power up to eight FPCs.
PSM2

PSM3
in the same PDU is
nonredundant.
CAUTION:
Three PSMs are nonredundant.

Redundant Configuration
The
in
PSM0
PDU0
required for full power redundancy.
If neither PSM in this zone is powered on, the fan
trays are not powered on, and the packet transport
switch will not be powered on.
If both PSMs in this zone fail, the fan trays are not
powered on, which will cause the packet transport
switch to be powered off.
If one PSM in this zone is powered off or fails, the
configuration becomes nonredundant.
The

PSM1
PDU0

If neither PSM in this zone is powered on, the craft
interface, host subsystems, CCGs, and SIBs are
not powered on.
If

craft interface, host subsystems, CCGs, and SIBs
are powered off.
If

For full power redundancy for up to four FPCs, two
PSM3
PSM in different PDUs is required.
NOTE:
The PSM must be in different PDUs for full
power redundancy.
For full power redundancy for five to eight FPCs, all
four PSM–

–must be present and fully functional for full
PDU1
power redundancy.
If all four PSM in this zone fail, the FPCs are powered
off.
