10. SPARK ARRESTER CLEANING
(OPTIONAL PART)
CLEANING
The spark arrester must be serviced every 100 hours to keep it
functioning as designed. Allow the engine to cool before
proceeding with this procedure.
1. Allow the engine to cool.
2. Unclip the two red top cover tabs from the slots [1] on the
muffler side of the engine, and then slightly lift the red top
cover up to expose the upper muffler shield bolt
3. Remove the three bolts [2] from the muffler shield [3] using a
10 mm socket wrench.
4. Remove the muffler shield [3].
5. Remove the set screw [4].
6. Remove the spark arrester [5] from the muffler [6].
7. Check for carbon deposits on the spark arrester and the
exhaust port. Brush carbon deposits away. Be careful to
avoid damaging the spark arrester screen. Inspect the
screen for holes or tears and replace if necessary.
8. Install the spark arrester into the muffler.
9. Install the muffler shield on the engine, and tighten the three
bolts securely.
11. COMBUSTION CHAMBER CLEANING
1. Remove the cylinder

2. Prepare a cylinder of thick paper or equivalent material, with a
large enough diameter to fit against the inner wall of the
cylinder.
3. Insert thick paper into the cylinder to protect the inner wall of the
cylinder when cleaning the combustion chamber.
4. Attach a commercially available cleaning brush to an electric
drill and clean the combustion chamber.
• Clean the combustion chamber when the valves have been
installed in the cylinder.
• Do not press the cleaning brush with force against the
combustion chamber.
