DLP-7 Updating the Firmware using TFTP

Introduction
The Total Access 850 supports firmware updates using TFTP or XMODEM. (Use the
Ethernet port and TFTP from a network server, or use XMODEM and the RCU faceplate
interfaces.) This DLP provides the steps for a successful firmware upgrade using the
CRAFT
Ethernet port and a TFTP server. (See DLP-8, Updating the Firmware using XMODEM, for
10/100BASET
instructions on using XMODEM.)
Tools and Materials Required
A PC with Telnet client software
A TFTP server accessible on the local network
A TFTP server is provided as part of the ADTRAN Utilities software suite supplied with
your shipment.
To prevent electrical shock, do not install equipment in a wet location or during a
lightning storm.
Electronic modules can be damaged by static electrical discharge. Before handling
modules, put on an antistatic discharge wrist strap to prevent damage to electronic
components. Place modules in antistatic packing material when transporting or storing.
When working on modules, always place them on an approved antistatic mat that is
electrically grounded.
