Introduction Configuration — Power over Ethernet May 2011...
You can directly plug the data cable from PoE-enabled access points (APs) in to the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300. The Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 can provide 200 watts (in default setting) of PoE power on the 8348TX or 8348GTX modules and support up to 48 PoE ports on the 8348TX-PWR or 8348GTX-PWR modules.
Page 22
PoE Power Manager (PPM) As part of the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 software, the PoE Power Manager (PPM) is a software application that handles all the PoE power configuration and management operations for the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300.
Figure 1: PoE power manager interactions PoE power supply management Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 PoE power allocation is based on the number of installed Ethernet Routing Switch 8301 or 8302AC power supplies. For example, each Ethernet Routing Switch 8301AC power supply provides 800 watts PoE power at 220 VAC, or 400 watts PoE Configuration —...

If you install three power supplies in the chassis, PoE power allocation is equivalent to two power supplies. In an Ethernet Routing Switch 8300, the total power available for PoE is always determined on the N+1 redundancy policy.
1600/800 W 800/400 W PoE module power allocation The Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 can vary the amount of PoE power provided at both the system and the module levels. This combination of PoE power allocation determines the number of PoE modules (8348TX-PWR or 8348GTX-PWR) that the Ethernet Routing switch 8300 supports.
200 watts at the default power allocation settings. The Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 configures a maximum of 15.4 watts of PoE power limit for each port by default. Use the software to configure power allocation in 1-watt units.

Chapter 6: PoE configuration using the CLI This chapter describes how to configure Power over Ethernet (PoE) in the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 by using the command line interface (CLI). Important: When you install and run Power over Ethernet modules, the 8310 or 8306 chassis cannot contain various power supply types: all power supplies on the chassis must be of the same type (either Ethernet Routing Switch 8301 or 8302 AC power supplies).
PoE configuration using the CLI Command Parameter config poe card <slotlist> notification-control <enable|disable> config poe port <portlist> admin <enable|disable> config poe port <portlist> power-priority <low|high|critical> config poe port <portlist> power-limit <value> config poe port <portlist> power-detection- control <auto|test> config poe port <portlist> type <other|telephone|webcam|wireless>...
Setting the PoE card power usage threshold Procedure steps Enable the power administration on the PoE card by using the following command: config poe card <slotlist> admin Important: PoE card power administration is enabled by default. If you install 8348TX-PWR or 8348GTX-PWR modules into an 80xx chassis, PoE is disabled.
PoE configuration using the CLI Variable Value Any consumption that falls below this threshold generates a warning message stating that the consumption is below the threshold. This message is sent to the console and log file. Any consumption above this threshold generates a warning message stating that the consumption is above the threshold.

Procedure steps Set the PoE port power administration by using the following command: config poe port <portlist>...
Set the power limit to the PoE port for power consumption. Important: The Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 software automatically adds one additional watt to the power limit to cover possible additional power loss between the PD and the PSE. Therefore, the run-time port power consumption is higher than the configured power limit (the run-time port power consumption should always be less than the configured power limit + 1 W).
PoE port settings configuration Setting PoE port type Set the PoE port type to allow the administrator to manage the port assignment by application. To improve power management at the PSE, you can limit the amount of power supplied on each port. In this example, two Ethernet Routing Switch 8302 power supplies at 110 V are installed in the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300. This provides enough power for two 8348TX-PWR or 8348GTX-PWR Modules with 200 watts for each module.

Todos os módulos PoE 8348TX-PWR e 8348GTX-PWR instalados perdem energia PoE quando o chassi detecta diferentes fontes de alimentação. Caution: ATTENZIONE Non combinare tipi di alimentatori diversi nello chassis 8306 o 8310.
