Changing adapter card device

When you install a new Plug and Play adapter card, the
Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) can automatically
detect it and configure your computer to use it. If you
install a non-Plug and Play or a non-PCI adapter card,
the BIOS does not detect it. Instead, you must enter the
Setup Utility to dedicate ISA Legacy resources for the
card.
From the Setup Utility Main Menu, select the Plug and
Play option to view or change adapter card
configuration settings. The Plug and Play menu appears.
This menu indicates how many Plug and Play cards are
installed. It also provides access to another menu for
configuring non-Plug and Play or non-PCI adapter cards.

Plug and Play cards detected

This option indicates the number of Plug and Play
adapter cards installed in your computer.

ISA Legacy resources

This option lets you configure non-Plug and Play
adapter cards, which are not automatically detected by
your computer. You must identify the following ISA
Legacy resources as dedicated to your new adapter card
so the BIOS does not attempt to assign them to Plug and
Play cards:

Memory Resources
•
I/O Port Resources
•
DMA Resources
•
Interrupt Resources
Each of the options on the ISA Legacy Resources menu
opens another menu.
Memory resources
Select this option to open the Memory Resources menu,
where you can allocate system memory regions for the
adapter card. This menu lists the hexadecimal addresses
of the available memory regions. You allocate memory
to an adapter card by selecting the Not Available setting
for a particular hexadecimal address.
Be sure to read the documentation that came with your
new adapter card. You may need to make changes to the
card to accommodate the selections you make for
Memory Resources. For example, you may have to
move jumpers or switches on the adapter card, or make
changes to the software that came with the adapter
card.
