For conflicts with system
resources used by a Plug and
Play card
If you install hardware that gives your computer a
combination of Plug and Play hardware and non-Plug
and Play hardware, you must enter the Setup Utility
before you install the new hardware to prevent resource
conflicts. In the Setup Utility, assign ISA Legacy
resources for the non-Plug and Play hardware so that
your computer's BIOS does not attempt to assign those
resources to Plug and Play hardware.
For information about the adapter card combinations
that require you to assign ISA Legacy resources, see
"Resolving Plug and Play resource conflicts" on page 76
and Table 2, "Adapter card configurations," on page 77.
For instructions on assigning ISA Legacy resources in
the Setup Utility, see "Changing adapter card device
information" on page 42.
For conflicts with other system
resources
If you install hardware that creates conflicts with other
system resources, you should receive an error message
the first time you turn on your computer after you have
installed the new hardware. If you receive an error
message, enter your computer's Setup Utility to
reassign system resources.
The instructions in "Chapter 6: Adding and replacing
system board components" on page 61 and "Chapter 7:
Adding and removing adapter cards and drives" on
page 73 contain information about the Setup Utility
changes you need to make for your new hardware.
