Chapter 8: Diagnosing and recovering from problems
Here's what to do:
1. Make sure the cables to all drives are securely attached.
2. Press Enter while the error message is displayed to enter the Setup Utility.
Choose System Information from the Setup Utility Main Menu and verify that
the Processor Speed setting is correct. (Find the processor speed [in MHz] on
the label attached to the front of your system unit.) If the setting is not
correct, check your Guide to HelpWare and All the Extras folder for
information on obtaining service.
3. Make sure the hard disk signal cable is attached to the correct connector on
the system board and the jumper settings on the hard disk are correct. For
information about drive connectors and settings in the desktop system unit,
see "Adding and removing drives" on page 86. For information about drive
connectors and settings in the minitower system unit, see "Adding and
removing drives" on page 108.
1. In the Setup Utility's ISA Legacy Resources menus, verify that the resources
allocated to installed adapter cards are actually required by the cards. For
instructions on using the Setup Utility, see "Using the Setup Utility" on
page 29. For information about assigning ISA Legacy resources, see
"Changing adapter card device information" on page 42.
2. To provide resources for the adapter card:
a. From the Windows 95 Device Manager, remove the COM and LPT ports.
b. In the Setup Utility, disable the serial ports and the parallel port.
c. Restart Windows. The serial and parallel ports will be enabled when they
are needed.
1. Make sure the monitor cables are correctly and securely connected to the
system unit.
2. If a video adapter card is installed, make sure it is installed correctly. For
