Drain the coolant.

Remove the carburetor.
(or
p. 163)

Remove the engine sprocket.
(or

Raise the motorcycle with the
lift
stand.
(or

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
-
Remove screws
e.
Remove the foot brake cylinder and allow it to hang tension-free
to the side.

The brake line connection does not need to be disconnected.
Do not kink the brake line. Do not damage the bellows on the foot brake
cylinder.

Detach spri ng • and take if off.
-
Prop up the rear wheel. Remove screw
e.

Remove nut
e.
-
Remove the swingarm pivot. Remove the swingarm, shock absorber and rear wheel
together.

You should have an assistant for this step.
Make sure that the engine is sufficiently secured against falling over.

Remove the main silencer.

Remove screw •.
-
Remove springs
e
and take off the manifold.
-
Release hose clips
e.
Take off the radiator hoses together.

Loosen hose clips
e.
Remove the radiator hoses together along with the thermo-
stat.
-
Pull engine vent hose
e
from the valve cover and engine case.
-
Pull of the spark plug connector.
